About Me

Spectacular Hokkaido
Spectacular Hokkaido

From the moment I began planning my first trip to Japan, I knew this would be something different. And the moment I arrived, that feeling was confirmed. The warmth of the people, the thoughtfulness behind every detail, and the uniqueness of the accommodations made it clear - I had stepped into a world unlike anywhere else I had ever traveled. Japan felt magical, intentional, and quietly extraordinary.

We began our journey in Tokyo, and instantly fell in love. We stayed at Park Hyatt Tokyo, a place many recognize from Lost in Translation - and yes, it’s just as memorable in real life. From temples and gardens to markets, art museums, and unforgettable ramen shops, Tokyo feels endlessly layered. There’s an almost otherworldly rhythm to the city that’s difficult to describe - you simply feel it.

After four days, we boarded the bullet train bound for Kyoto, stopping to admire Mount Fuji along the way. Photos don’t prepare you for it - seeing Fuji in person is breathtaking and deeply moving.

In Kyoto, history and culture unfold quietly and beautifully. The city is impeccably clean and deeply respectful of tradition. We wandered through the bamboo forest, stood in awe at the Golden Pavilion, explored lesser-known neighborhoods, met a master Buddha sculptor, and enjoyed some of the most memorable meals of the trip.

From Kyoto, we traveled on to Hiroshima, where we stayed in a traditional ryokan - an absolute must. The cuisine, the hospitality, and the experience itself were deeply authentic. Hiroshima is powerful and humbling; a city once devastated, rebuilt with resilience, grace, and hope. It’s a place that stays with you long after you leave. We added a few days to Naoshima, a truly special island devoted to art and experience. Museums, installations, and architecture blend seamlessly into the landscape.

Before heading home, we added an unforgettable contrast: three days skiing in Hokkaido. Known for its legendary powder, Hokkaido delivers some of the best skiing in the world. Days on the slopes were followed by steaming outdoor onsens, beautifully prepared meals, and cozy evenings that felt distinctly Japanese. It was the perfect blend of adventure and restoration.

Japan is magical - thoughtful, inspiring and endlessly surprising. It's a destination that stays with you, and one I cannot wait to return to again and again.

HIRE AN EXPERT!
Reviewed By Kimberly L - SEATTLE | Traveled to Greece ~ Europe
This summer, I hired a travel agent for the first time in my life, and learned one thing: I will NEVER book another trip by myself. Working with Mike Salvadore was quick, easy, completely painless, and absolutely fabulous! When I called Mike, I was extremely far behind on my travel plans-I was simply stuck. I was traveling to a country that I'd never visited, and I didn't know where to begin.

Mike met with me for a short period of time, and asked me questions about the types of things that my family likes to do on vacation, as well as budget and timing. The next thing I knew, Mike & his team presented a detailed presentation of our trip. This was not an easy trip to book. The trip included flights to several island locations, cars to inland destinations, and local-flavor excursions. One great surprise was the wondrful private tour guide that took us to see the ruins in Delphi and Olympia. Mike also found the MOST fabulous hotels, And most importantly, it was all EASY !
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

About to hit the slopes in Niseko!

Japan is other worldly-Skiing, eating, having fun!

We started our trip with a week of skiing. Niseko was incredible. The snow was just… unreal. Like, powdery clouds. Skiing felt almost weightless, and the quiet was something else, just the sound of the snow and the wind. Evenings were spent in the onsen, which was so relaxing after a day on the slopes. The warm water was perfect for sore muscles...
