River cruising has quickly become one of my favorite ways of experiencing a destination.  From my very first river cruise on Amawaterways from Vilshofen Germany to Budapest Hungary I was hooked and I look forward to helping discover what I did. One question I get asked a lot is …  What do you do on a River Cruise?  The short answer is truly explore the destination. 

The long answer is the ships are much smaller giving you an intimate feel while immersing yourself in various cities.  Many of the cities are very quaint and you feel as if you’re being transported back to the 1600’s. There are stops in larger cities as well such as Strasbourg or Cologne. We had anywhere from 2-4 tours to choose from at each stop. The activities level varies so there are options for every traveler. In most cases these are included in your trip.  If you prefer to venture on your own in a particular city, you can! After all it’s your vacation and you should spend your time ashore as you please. The majority of the river cruisers will choose the tours as they offer options that are highly attractive in each port. The tours often offer free times and on many occasions you’re in port overnight giving you the freedom to explore on your own after a tour.  The ships dock right in or near town so it’s easy to venture off if you’d like.   If this sparks your travel curiosity  I am a phone call, email or text away
