COUNTRIES VISITED:Hawaii
PLACES VISITED:Oahu Island, Waikiki, Oahu
SUGGESTED DURATION:6 Days
This trip was originally planned to celebrate my 40th birthday a little early BUT a couple months prior to this trip I lost my partner. It was a trip for US. I was still very much mourning my huge loss during the trip. Therefore this trip was very relaxing and not as jam packed as I might have had normally. To be honest, I loved it and it was perfect and relaxing. Just what our hearts needed.

Waimea Falls & Toa Luau
Lazy relaxing morning before we headed to Waimea Falls. Waimea Falls Park is ranked among some of the best Oahu hikes. It is more like a pleasurable one mile stroll through lush botanical gardens that lead up to the grand waterfall. Still known as the popular Waimea Falls Park, this Oahu waterfall and the surrounding tropical grounds are now run by the stewards of Waimea Valley Hi’ipaka. There are several options for Luau's across the island. We decided to go to Toa Luau in Haleiwa. It was very close to Waimea Falls as well. We had an amazing time with some delicious food.

Beach Day
A friend from high school told me about some amazing snorkeling at a place the locals call Electric Beach. Also known as Kahe Beach, Electric Beach is one of Oahu’s best spots for snorkeling, swimming, and simply enjoying the sight of the sparkling water while sunbathing. After some snorkeling we decided to continue the beach day at our condo and relaxed. We saw the most beautiful sunset while sitting on the powdery soft beach.

Diamond Head & Waikiki
We went to Diamond Head State Park. Hawaii’s most recognized landmark is known for its historic hiking trail, stunning coastal views, and military history. Diamond Head State Monument encompasses over 475 acres, including the interior and outer slopes of the crater. I'll be honest, I struggled with shin splints and made it about halfway up the top of the crater. My brother and father continued on and made it to the very top. It's a very rocking, not flat path as well as lots of stairs and a tunnel to get to the top. While in the area, we visited Waikiki. We walked around and saw the famous beach, stopped at the amazing shops and had a nice lunch while there.

Dole Plantation & Laie Point
The Dole Plantation is a historic pineapple plantation that attracts families with a train ride & a 3-acre garden maze. We did all of it and of course ate some delicious pineapple dole whip. So so good. We then went to Laie Point on the North Shore. If you've seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall (LOL) I swear it was filmed there. It was the most breathtaking beach views I've ever seen. Definitely need to stop there.

Nuuanu Pali Point & Ziplining
Originally we had a whale watching tour planned for this day. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to weather on that side of the island, literally while we were on the way. We had to pivot and find something else to do. We found Nuuanu Pali Point which has a breathtaking view with some great history behind the area. BEWARE it is WINDY. Literally you're about to blow away type of winding it's crazy. But absolutely worth the views. Mom and I decided to bop around town and hit the Polynesian Cultural Center which has some amazing souvenir shops. While my Dad and Brother went ziplining on the North Shore.

FINAL THOUGHTS
This is a perfect relaxing trip to Oahu Island. There is a lot to do in Oahu but I tried to space it out and high the highlights to be able to enjoy and savor each moment.
