Family Ties

Family travel is wonderful, fun and full of memory making. It is also challenging and time consuming.

Having my own blended family with a large range of ages of children I have learned how to seek out those family fun activities that include everyone from teens to toddlers. I also make sure there is a little part of each trip that caters to each individual. So maybe one adult is hanging by the pool with the young kids while the other is on a hike or attending a yoga class with the older ones. Sometimes it is as simple going for ice cream while young kids enjoy some downtime back at the hotel. (I always bring along simple crafts and activities for when kids need a break from the busyness of a vacation.)

Planning for these times of separation has it's own challenges. Lining up transportation and dividing up the time just right to keep everyone happy is just another hurdle in planning. I look at all possible options to keep the day moving efficiently and affordable.

Finding just the right place to call home base can be difficult too. Vacation is hard work and everyone needs to feel comfortable when they return "home" each day. When you have a larger family or group you may need more than just a standard hotel room. I have booked rooms with a privacy curtain, bunk beds, connecting rooms and family suites. There are a lot of configurations out there and I will find the perfect place for you to rest your head at night.
