Neuschwanstein Castle

Germany is a top destination for all travellers.  Begin with a cruise down the Rhine River and see castles galore along the way. Stop in for wine tastings at quaint villages. See Cologne's magnificent cathedral and climb the 500+ stairs in the tower. Drive the Romantic Road and discover the wonderful city of Heidelberg with its castle and rich history. Sit in a cafe in the town square or find souvenirs in the many special shops there.  Head onto Rothenburg ob der Tauber to experience Germany's most famous medieval town. The half timbered houses and cobblestone streets will never be forgotten.  Remember to find the Christmas decorations for sale. The Black Forest should be your next stop. Cuckoo clocks as well as a huge array of wooden carvings have been produced here since the 1700's. Freiburg is the largest city in this part of Germany, known for its Gothic architecture and numerous wineries in the area. Munich is home to the famous Bavarian Oktoberfest which brings so many travellers to the city. But Munich has much more to offer for everyone. See the museums,  hear an opera, or listen to the glockenspiel play at the Town Hall. Taste those famous German sausages at any beer garden in the city. Germany's most famous castle is not far away. The dramatic alpine setting and Neuschwanstein is certainly not to be missed.

Cosmopolitan Berlin offers too much to list here but certainly the Museum Island should be mentioned as a must-see.  The Cold War left its mark at Checkpoint Charlie.

If your trip takes place at the end of the year, don't miss the many many Christmas markets that can be found in each Germany town and city. Nuremberg is perhaps the most famous of all.  The aroma of the typical glühwein, or grog, surrounds you as you shop for gingerbread hearts and wooden tree ornaments.
