This was my 3rd cruise and the 3rd time working with Rod. He was referred to me by family and I can say that working with Rod gives you confidence in your plans. This is the first time I’ve written this kind of review but I couldn’t let it slip by. I had never worked with Rod until I was looking for someone who may be helpful in planning and executing a travel experience of a live time. We have booked over 40 cruises with Rod, but one really stands out. It was a 3 segment cruise of 11, 17, and 10 nights going around New Zealand, then on to Honolulu and Vancouver. We arrived two days early in Sydney only to find that the first segment had been cancelled due to ship mechanical problems. We immediately contacted Rod. He had been trying to contact us for hours. Around 6pm he called and got us a confirmed cabin on a ship leaving the next day on a 11 night So Pac islands. However, the cruise line (same as our cancelled cruise) wouldn’t accept payment in the US; we would have to pay at check-in. At 6am Rod called to say that the cruise line agreed to accept payment in the US and emailed our confirmation. By 11am we were onboard and had a great cruise. We boarded our original ship for the 2nd and 3rd segments. Several we met did not have a TA like Rod and spent 12 nights in Sydney until the ship was ready to go on to Honolulu. To describe Rod in one word = Awesome!

We recently went to Alaska on the Regent Seven Seas Mariner and had a great time! Rod was onboard as the Distinctive Voyages host and was very helpful throughout the cruise. I booked the first cruise with Rod around 2007.. I found him through a cruise quote website. I was concerned at first because he had no brick and mortar operation. I did my research about what questions to ask and contacted him. He had all the "right" answers including the fact that the cruiseline itself would charge my credit card (and not his agency...this is ultra critical when you book with an online travel agent). He was very easy to talk with and helpful (I was booking a Panama Canal cruise for a group of family & friends). After his help with that cruise, he became my GOTO person for booking cruises (I have been on 30+ cruises). He is very helpful (selecting a cabin, recommending one cruise ship over another, etc). I have booked many many cruises through him since and have referred him to at least 10 friends who have also booked. Before I found Rod, I booked with the cruise lines directly. Frankly, I found it very impersonal. I would get different agents or my agent would be off and I'd have to wait. I just booked a cruise with Rod and emailed him with an "URGENT" subject line because I had found a great price and knew it wouldn't last.
