Cook Islands - A little unknown heaven

We spent a wonderful 2+ weeks in Fiji, visited the main island, yasawas and taveuni. Tree did a wonderful job setting up the trip for us, we simply let her know what our interests were and she took care of the rest.

We plans a trip to Fiji for our family and were so happy to have found Tree @ Beyond Bora Bora.

During our travel planning interviews we provided our wish list, budget and times frames. Then Tree worked her magic creating a vacation filled with amazing scuba diving and culture. We will remember our Fiji adventure for the life time.

Take always:
Best dives:  Rainbow reef, by a huge margin.  Specific dives that were world class: Sam's place and Rainbow city (both on the  rainbow reef).  

Resorts Matangi and Paradise:  Matangi is clearly a better resort (food, service, location) but the diving is better on the Paradise side because of the proximity to the rainbow reef.    I think Tres’s  idea to combine both was the optimal set up, and the split in terms of days between the two. 

When it comes to Fiji Tree is the expert! Professional, caring, and trusting. She will look after all your travel needs, check on you in destination and when you return.
 

Tree was fantastic from start to finish. She helped us pick a destination that matched what we were looking for in our vacation when we were unsure exactly where to go. The hotels and recommendations she provided were just what we were looking for. We had a fabulous time at Matangi!! Staff was great resort was great food was great excursions were great we loved it all. I was hoping to communicate with Sirelli as I wanted to send him some pictures for the staff.

We started doing our own research for our first post-Covid trip. After coming up with several questions we contacted Tree who made the rest of the planning process much easier. Based on our requirements she helped us select the best cruise company for our Douro River cruise. Uniworld was wonderful, just what we asked for and more. We wanted to start with a few days in Bordeaux, France, staying in a vineyard chateau. Tree tracked down one that was available for our specific dates. Chateau de La Riviere was the perfect, fairy tale chateau. We had also started researching flights. Tree came up with a much better Air France flight and saved us money. As with all trips there were a few glitches along the way, but nothing that spoiled our trip. We look back know and chuckle at our “adventures.” Bottom line, so nice to have one source, and contact for the expertise to coordinate all the moving parts of an overseas trip. A perfect trip to get us “on the road again.”

Tree Schmidt orchestrated the most amazing 50th birthday trip for me to Matangi Island in Fiji. It is a long trip, but as your transfer boat approaches the private island, a gathering of Fijians were playing guitars and singing for our welcome.  It was heart felt, they have amazing voices!  I can't wait to go back.

Tree has been to Fiji 13 times and has a very good idea of what is best avoided, and what is absolute must see tuned in to your personal interests and travel style.

This trip was on our bucket list, but we had never been in Africa and had done little thinking about actually doing so when we connected with Tree. Her preparations gave us a great intro into what to expect, what to do in advance, and what to pack. I appreciated that her educational materials were "right sized" and told me just what I needed to know. Consequently, we were well prepared for the variable Spring weather in Capetown and for the morning and evening safaris.

Our itinerary was a mix of sightseeing around Capetown and safari adventures. It gave us a great look at South African culture, history, the sites and of course the flora and fauna. All of the accommodations were excellent and our each of guides impressed and inspired me with their knowledge and love of country.

Traveling with a group is similar to herding cats but we were fortunate to be traveling with Tree and I observed how she calmly dealt with hitches or complications that popped up. A dry eye is hard to find as you depart Matangi Private Island Resort. (to be fair, the arrival song might be even more tear inspiring) The warmth, kindness, and genuine nature of the Fijians comes through in their voices and will captivate you! Many of the staff remembered us from our visit 10 years ago. The family that owns Matangi, lives on the resort. Nothing is remotely “corporate'' on this pristine volcanic island above or below the surface of the sea. Everyone wants you to feel as at-home as they do.

We have used Tree for two of our vacations now-our 2019 honeymoon in Fiji and most recently French Polynesia, and she has yet to steer us wrong. French Polynesia is a multi leg complex trip in itself I think depending on which island you plan to visit. Top that with the varying restrictions and travel requirements surrounding covid and that complexity definitely increases. Partnering up with Tree made the hassle much easier. We had a last minute glitch with some of the local government required paperwork that almost caused us to delay the trip. Tree jumped right on it contacting the French Embassy and airlines over the weekend to help work it out. Her firsthand knowledge of the area was very helpful and her recommendations were spot on. We got just what we were looking for and more in the place she recommended. Also, little things like contacting the hotel for us to ask for an early morning check in and recognizing my Wife's BDay with a little gift in our room were nice adders and made it more special.
