When working with Ann (name redacted), a first-time cruiser, I recommended a 7-night Eastern Caribbean sailing on Wonder of the Seas, one of Royal Caribbean’s newest and most innovative ships. This itinerary—roundtrip from Port Canaveral—offered just the right balance of sea days and exciting ports: St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Perfect Day at CocoCay. The ship itself was ideal for a new cruiser: plenty of dining variety, shows, tranquil spaces like Central Park, and activities to enjoy at her own pace.
In St. Thomas, I suggested a small-group panoramic island tour with time to relax at Magen’s Bay. For St. Maarten, we picked a walking foodie tour through Philipsburg—great for exploring safely while tasting local culture. And at CocoCay, I booked her a Hideaway Beach day pass for a laid-back, adults-only experience with pristine sands and swim-up bar access.
This cruise gave Ann the perfect intro to cruising—varied, easy to navigate, and full of personal touches.

Taste of St. Maarten: Guided Walking Food Tour
For Ann’s day in St. Maarten, I recommended a guided small-group foodie walking tour through the colorful streets of Philipsburg on the Dutch side. This experience allowed her to explore safely and leisurely while sampling Caribbean flavors like saltfish, Johnny cakes, and coconut rum punch—all guided by a local host with deep island roots. The tour also included cultural insights, photo stops at historic sites, and free time to shop along the Boardwalk or relax on the beach just steps away.
As a first-time cruiser, Ann appreciated the slower pace, the friendly group size, and not having to worry about logistics. It was the perfect way to connect with the island without feeling overwhelmed—and a highlight of her cruise!
