My Travel and Work Experience

We met with Melissa twice - once to talk about our expectations and price range, then again to go over the itinerary. We emailed on several occasions to verify each important event. We visited England ~ London, Devon and Cornwall, Scotland ~ Edinburgh, Highlands, Isle of Skye, and Ireland ~ Dublin and Southeastern coastline

Melissa Becker did an amazing job assisting with my trip to Costa Rica. I was provided with information on the resort I would be staying at, along with different options for exploring the area.

Melissa did a great job. We added a day, upgraded hotels (both were great and in great locations) and everything was seamless. Communication throughout the process was excellent.

This was my second time booking a trip with Melissa and it was perfect for the second time as well! Everything went smoothly and I was able to enjoy international travel without experiencing the stress that is commonly affiliated with international travel. She thought of everything and we were very well accommodated.

On top of that, thanks to Melissa, we were also able to make a last minute booking for my wife's brother and his family. She made it just as easy for them, even though they live out of sate. Melissa was wonderful to work with- from basic information to personalized recommendations, she made it easy for us to go on a trip that was on our bucket-list! She was able to offer recommendations that fit with the busyness of our lives (and the lack of time we had available to plan a trip). She took our kids' ages into account when making recommendations, and set up a flight schedule that worked perfectly with the trip and jet lag issues! Her knowledge of travel and her use of that knowledge to help us put together a trip was exceedingly helpful. We will definitely work with her again.

We returned from London yesterday and the trip was fabulous! While it can be easy to decide the main sights to see in a city like London, we really needed help finding a hotel that was in a good location and had two double beds - which can be a rarity in Europe. Melissa was a lifesaver, working hard to research and recommend a great hotel that met all our requirements. She knew the city and made personal recommendations on things to do, transportation and more. Her great recommendation put us right across the street from a metro station and just a short walk to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park (where we could escape and rejuvenate after a long day of sightseeing). We couldn’t have done it without Melissa. I would highly recommend working with her.

I knew that I needed help for international plans for our family of four. We wanted flexibility with a few specific details in mind. Melissa was wonderful at patiently continuing our search with us as our ideas became more clear, and I appreciate that she took all of our thoughts into consideration while developing the best plans for us. We had exactly the trip we were after - a combination of tours in various parts of Germany with time on our own, at family-friendly areas of the cities we visited. She was clever at finding age-appropriate details (we have 10yo twin boys) so that all four of us enjoyed ourselves. Our accommodations were just right and our transportation was fun (one of our requests!). The highlight of the entire trip was the delightful castle that she secured for us, Schloss Kartzow, that we never, ever would have found on our own. I am absolutely won over to working with Melissa for her expertise!

Melissa attended to every small detail which made for a perfect itinerary and seamless travel. She really listened to what we were looking for and then delivered. She was readily accessible and always returned calls and emails.

Unsure about what a travel agent could offer in this day of everything being on the internet, especially when I am use to making my own domestic travel arrangements. So glad that I took a chance and called Melissa, as I was traveling to Ireland, then Amsterdam. She had most of the answers to my questions and the ones she didn't, she found the answers and got back to me in a timely manner. She also had information/questions for me that I was not even thinking of. I had very little time from when I contacted her to when I was wanting to take this international trip. Airfare,hotels,trainfare, currency exchange,and transportation in between. She also researched some tours for us to try(with reviews). Very professional,very nice demeanor,which always helps when you can tell that someone cares about their job. The experience was so good that I have already had her help me with an upcoming trip to New York.

We were so impressed with Melissa researching and setting up our trip to Rome and the Almafi Coast. There were a lot of challenges to overcome in the planning process. She came up with options and spent time meeting with us to close in on our plan. It was a great trip.

Excellent experience. Melissa is smart, detail oriented, and pleasant to work with. She helped us pick a destination for our trip and a resort (we knew we wanted November in the Caribbean but not much else). The trip was excellent and everything went smoothly.

I would recommend Melissa to any friend or family member looking to plan a trip. My mother and I were looking to plan a 2 week trip to Ireland and Scotland. Melissa accommodated our wish to travel by car. The timing at each location was perfect. We saw everything we wanted to without feeling rushed. With me being located in Cincinnati and my mother in Michigan, we were a little worried about planning the trip. Melissa accommodated our schedules excellently.

From the initial planning stages to the final execution all interactions with Melissa were fabulous. This was my first ever overseas trip. To say I was a little nervous was an understatement and to make me even more nervous I was doing the trip by myself but Melissa made sure everything was taken care of down to the finest detail.

I thought it was going to be a problem when the tour company changed the dates of my tour because the one I originally signed up for did not have enough travelers. Melissa not only sent me the notification to let me know of the change but she also contacted the company who I bought Travel Insurance thru to inform them of the change.

The only thing I had to do was go on my trip and enjoy it. Melissa took care of everything else.

I think my next tour will be a domestic one but I will definitely be needing Melissa's help again.

Everything went so smooth for my first out of the country trip. Will be back soon to schedule my next adventure.

She answered every question. She took time helping us to build an itinerary that covered everything that I had dreamed of doing. We stayed at lovely guest houses and we especially loved our private driver that knew the ins and outs and great places to eat and visit. Our trip was like my best fairy tales come true.

We are so glad we used Melissa to plan our London and Paris trip. She was friendly and super thorough and gave us many touring options. Melissa put the time in to answer all our questions and with Covid she made multiple calls to try and get the answers she did't know right away. Covid delayed our trip 16 months and created MANY hurdles but we stayed in touch and finally pulled it off.

She was awesome! Extremely helpful, went out of her way to help us when the hotel went on strike a couple of days before our trip. Couldn't really change anything, but tried and kept in touch with us along the way of trying.

As a couple who has never been to Europe before, we tried to plan our anniversary trip ourselves but were easily overwhelmed. I contacted multiple travel agencies to get their help, but no one responded. Then I found Travel Leaders. Melissa was very confident with the information and booking process> Her experiences helped us make a couple decisions on some excursions we booked. She kept us inform with emails with all upcoming payments and questions ? And anytime we reached out with questions or concerns, she promptly replied.

My husband and I had dreamed of taking a tour of Italy. With all of the site seeing and history there, we knew we had to cram a lot into a short trip. Melissa was so knowledgeable on the country, and provided the perfect trip for us. She signed us up for the Monograms package in Sorrento and Rome, which was incredible. I highly recommend this package because it was the perfect combination of guided tours and "free" days where we were able to explore on our own. We then traveled up to Florence followed by Venice. Melissa booked us great hotels and the transportation from one location to another was totally seamless. It was such a luxury not to worry about getting around. Melissa was so responsive during the planning process, and even during the trip itself when I had last minute questions. The only thing I would change is the timing. We traveled in mid August, and it was uncomfortably hot in Italy!

Melissa worked with us to extend our trip by a couple of days and was able to get us a fair price on our hotel. She also worked With Globus to arrange our flights that fit the schedule we were working towards.

We told Melissa what we wanted to do and she delivered. She scheduled all of our activities/tours. Went to Oahu, Maui, and Kuwai. Nothing worse than being scheduled for a tour and not knowing when/where to be picked up. Melissa kept us informed when necessary. She was terrific! Some of our excursions took up most of the day. We realized we wanted to have a little more time to just relax at the beach/pool, and cancelled a couple of tours to do so. The Road to Hana was fantastic, but a long day, as was the Waimea Canyon tour. The Haleakala sunrise was breathtaking, but cold. Ziplining was a blast. The Arizona Memorial is a must. Had a great time before getting sick in the last few days of our trip.

We just returned from our 4th trip planned by Melissa, a cruise. She really takes the stress out of planning and all those mid-travel hiccups. This time around, I was not as prepared as usual and had a slur of last minute requests and questions for Melissa. She was able to handle everything and put me at ease before sending us off on the perfectly planned trip. We will NOT plan large trips without her anymore.

We did not end up moving forward with our trip but I will speak highly of the effort she put into planning our complex adventure. She was open minded to our needs and understanding when we needed to back out. Communication was solid and she truly helped up work out our dates and itinerary for the overall shape of the trip.

Every detail was thoughtfully planned and executed from the drivers helping us to to and from the airport a train station, to the absolutely comfortable and delightful hotels. Everything about our trip worked smoothly and made for an adventure that we will never forget.

The entire trip was phenomenal. My only complaint was with the hotel room in Venice which was not the fault of Melissa. We were supposed to have 2 beds, however we were given a coming sized be which according to the hotel was an upgrade however, I did not consider that to be case.

Melissa was amazing! She really listened to what I wanted, handled all my (many!) questions with patience, and explained everything clearly — from flights to airport transfers in places where language is a barrier! Super professional, friendly, and made the whole process so easy. Highly recommend

We have been very happy using Insights small group tours, and this tour gave us a great overview of Italy, covering all the highlights. I have used Melissa‘s services for a couple of trips now and she has been wonderful in the preparation of the trip and in the support that she provides.

The decision to take the cruise was last minute. We had less than a month to put it all together. We talked one day about what we were looking for and the next day she had everything booked. She answered all my questions and sent me our flight information travel insurance, trip itinerary, booked excursion tickets, transfers to and from the airport and our luggage tags. The trip took place without any problems.

We loved the accommodations until we hit a bump in Porto - It all worked out in the end! Thank you for all the hard work finding all the locations and especially the recommendation to visit Cascais we loved it!

Trip to Florence and Venice (September/October 2025) Melissa was very pleasant to work with, knowledgeable, and she responded quickly to all our questions and concerns during the months it took to plan this trip. We also contacted her during the trip and she was available, to our relief! The flights were well organized, with enough time in between each one to make it through the airports. Both hotels were perfect; rooms were quiet, breakfasts were outstanding, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Both Florence and Venice were still very crowded this time of the year which we didn’t expect. For the quieter season, we were advised to book travel for April at the latest or starting in November! The transportation from the Venice train station to the hotel worked perfectly. Transportation from the hotel to the airport also worked very well, with a little concern the day before when the agency didn’t confirm as promised. Yet, they arrived at the hotel on the morning of travel as expected. The one-day semiprivate tour to Cinque Terra was excellent, and my favorite day of the trip. We were seven passengers in a comfortable van with a charming and knowledgeable driver. She brought us to three of the five villages, traveling by train in between. In each village we had one to two hours of free time which was actually sufficient since they’re very small. On the way back to Florence we visited Pisa, where (to my surprise) the leaning tower is a very beautiful structure made of white marble. In sum, the arrangements made by Melissa were excellent. We look forward to working with her again. Thank you!

Melissa is the best! She worked diligently to make all of the arrangements for our trip and kept us posted on all of the arrangements from the first to the final payments on the flights, insurance and tour.

The trip was fantastic. We truly enjoyed everything we did. Melissa was excellent working with us and making our arrangements seamless. Everything fell into place well when we were away. We had one minor issue but it had nothing to do with Melissa’s planning. Our train to Venice was to be delayed 30 to 50 minutes. The train service let us know of the delay but did not report back when the train made up the delay. We got to the train station at the time the train. Was scheduled to leave figuring we had 30 to 50 minutes to spare. However, the train had made up time and was now on time so we ended up missing our train and we ended up delayed and had to incur an additional cost for more tickets.

I really enjoyed working with Melissa. She was extremely knowledgable and able to get us great accomodations and inform us best times to visit. Everything was packaged nicely together and made it very easy for our trip!

Melissa was so professional and helpful through this whole process. From the initial planning stages through our many alterations, she was patient and truly came through the morning of our departure when the airlines cancelled our flight. She made other arrangements that helped us get to Spain with minimal discomfort. Thank you for another well planned European vacation Melissa. I am an elderly lady who has not travelled abroad for a long time, although as a young woman, I traveled extensively. Needless to say, things are very different now than they were back then, and I am not ashamed to say I was quite nervous about the upcoming trip. I need not have been. Melissa was very understanding and patient with me as we navigated the details of the my visit to London and beyond to see family and friends. She organized the airplane tickets and seating, booked a really lovely hotel in the heart of London and even arranged my railway tickets for my visit to Suffolk. I am a little 'electronically' challenged so, not only did Melissa send things via email, but printed everything for me as well. Everything went very smoothly and, quite frankly, I could not have done this without Melissa's help. She is a joy to work with. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would.

Overall great experience with something for everyone in our group (ages 6-72). Everything was coordinated well and gave us the ability to see everything through cruising, trains, and excursions. It was an excellent way to see Alaska in a variety of ways. Melissa was great with handling the cruise details, ensuring we had timely reservations and she accounted for all of our needs. We saved by working with Melissa to create our own land tour rather than going through the cruise line and I would definitely recommend doing the same. More control over what we wanted to do and less costs.

Melissa provided invaluable guidance with airfare, travel insurance, and hotel suggestions. We were especially pleased with the overall flight itinerary and the hotel arrangements in Edinburgh and London.

For our anniversary we went to Europe for the first time together. Our trip took us to Amsterdam, Paris and London. We had a wonderful time in Honolulu-Oahu. The hotel (Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort) was fabulous. We were located on the beach with easy access to local activities and tour busses. Every day was an adventure beginning with the Pearl Harbor tour, submarine ride, Dole pineapple, plantation tour, the Polynesian Luau and the Sunset Cruise. The tours were expensive but educational and fun. The food was excellent and the shopping was great with the many designer stores. Hawaii was a dream come true. Thanks to Melissa at Travel Leaders. We're new to traveling internationally. One trip to Scotland my sister was going to come but had a health issue and was unable to travel canceling her trip with us. We all purchased insurance. Melissa offered to assist my sister by taking care of most of the paperwork and submitting the claim. My sister was reimbursed without an issue and the ordeal of figuring out how to submit the travel insurance claim. Melissa was great! She also shares her enthusiasm for travel.

Melissa's advice about the Alaska Railroad was perfect! She knew about the Open Dome Car, which was so fun. Without the rail, we might have completely missed seeing Mt. Denali.

Everything was perfect at the Denali Princess Lodge. Tour companies located us easily when we went on tours. Denali NPS had a shuttle going through regularly.

Melissa encouraged us to spend a day in Anchorage. We did the Boardwalk Trail to Earthquake Park and the Anchorage Museum.

Whittier was exceptionally memorable, a small town and its quiet beauty with plentiful glaciers and hiking. Melissa found an Alaskan secret in Whittier.

Melissa helped us plan a last minute trip to New York City. She took into account our family's wishes and offered us options to pick from that enhanced what we even could imagine planning. She helped us secure a good deal and assured that our air and hotel accommodations were just what we were looking for. Even after the plans were in place, she provided travel tips and tricks for getting around the city, securing show tickets, and recommended little known activities that we added to our itinerary. She took care of everything associated with getting a refund for his airfare and money off my room since it was now only a single occupancy. Melissa worked very diligently to get this trip rolling for us. We had originally planned to go in 2020, and she had completed most of our bookings in 2019. Along came the pandemic, and everything changed. The tour was cancelled, the flight was cancelled and the Passion Play was postponed until 2022. Melissa kept track of the credits we were given and was ready in 2021 to re-book all elements of our trip to take place this year. She was patient and helpful when we decided to add on an extra day at the beginning of the trip. This required alterations to both our flight and our hotel, and Melissa handled those details with expertise. She also kept us informed as to when payments were due and when we could make train reservations. I felt comfortable knowing that the specifics of our trip were in Melissa’s capable hands, and I appreciate her travel knowledge and professionalism.
