Navigate the labyrinth of winding canals aboard a traditional gondola, marvel at the exquisite architecture of St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace, and lose yourself in the charm of the city's hidden alleyways and picturesque bridges. Indulge in sumptuous Venetian cuisine, from fresh seafood dishes to delectable cicchetti enjoyed alongside a glass of fine Italian wine. Venice's timeless allure, rich history, and enchanting atmosphere make it a destination not to be missed for any traveler seeking an unforgettable experience.

Venice, often referred to as the "Floating City" or the "City of Canals," is a mesmerizing destination located in northeastern Italy. Renowned for its unique urban landscape, rich history, cultural heritage, and romantic ambiance, Venice is truly one of the world's most enchanting cities. Let's explore various aspects of Venice, including its geography, history, landmarks, culture, cuisine, and more.Geography: Venice is situated in the Venetian Lagoon, a shallow body of water along the northeastern coast of Italy. The city is built on a group of 118 small islands that are connected by a network of canals and bridges. The Grand Canal, the main waterway that snakes through the heart of Venice, is lined with elegant palaces, churches, and historic buildings.History: Venice has a rich and storied history that dates back over 1,000 years. Founded in the 5th century AD by refugees fleeing barbarian invasions on the Italian mainland, Venice grew into a powerful maritime republic that dominated trade routes between Europe and the East during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. At its peak, Venice was a center of commerce, art, and culture, with significant influence in politics and diplomacy. The city's unique system of government, led by elected officials known as the Doge and the Great Council, allowed Venice to thrive as a republic for centuries.Landmarks: Venice is home to a wealth of historic landmarks and architectural treasures that reflect its illustrious past. St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco) is the heart of the city and is surrounded by iconic landmarks such as St. Mark's Basilica, a stunning example of Byzantine architecture adorned with intricate mosaics; the Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale), a masterpiece of Venetian Gothic architecture; and the Campanile, a towering bell tower offering panoramic views of the city.Other must-see attractions include the Rialto Bridge, the oldest and most famous bridge spanning the Grand Canal; the Bridge of Sighs, connecting the Doge's Palace to the New Prison; and the picturesque neighborhoods of Cannaregio, Dorsoduro, and Castello, each with its own unique charm and character.Culture: Venice's rich cultural heritage is evident in its art, music, festivals, and traditions. The city has been a center of artistic innovation for centuries, with renowned painters such as Titian, Tintoretto, and Canaletto calling Venice home. The Venetian Carnival, held annually in the weeks leading up to Lent, is a dazzling spectacle of masked balls, parades, and festivities that attracts visitors from around the world.Venice is also known for its vibrant cultural scene, with world-class museums, galleries, and theaters showcasing Venetian art, music, and theater. The Venice Biennale, one of the world's most prestigious art exhibitions, takes place every two years and showcases contemporary art from around the globe.Cuisine: Venetian cuisine is a delicious reflection of the city's maritime heritage and multicultural influences. Seafood plays a starring role in Venetian dishes, with specialties like sarde in saor (marinated sardines), risotto al nero di seppia (risotto with cuttlefish ink), and fritto misto (mixed fried seafood) being popular choices.Cicchetti, small plates of tapas-style snacks served in bacari (wine bars) throughout the city, are a beloved Venetian tradition. Local specialties like baccalà mantecato (creamed cod), polpette (meatballs), and crostini with various toppings are perfect for sampling alongside a glass of Venetian wine or spritz. In conclusion, Venice's timeless beauty, rich history, and romantic allure make it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a truly unforgettable experience. Whether exploring historic landmarks, cruising along picturesque canals, or savoring delicious Venetian cuisine, visitors to Venice are sure to be captivated by the city's charm and elegance.

Two Memorable Weeks in Puglia
Reviewed By The Mc Man - San Francisco, CA | Traveled to Puglia | Italy | Europe
We spent two weeks in Puglia with my wife and her parents, and the trip was extremely well executed. Sally created a smart and well-timed driving itinerary that included Bari, Matera, Monopoli, and Polignano a Mare, with a great mix of private tours, boat outings, beach days, and standout dinner restaurants. The accommodation choices were excellent, including a luxurious 3-room B&B in Polignano a Mare overlooking the iconic Lama Monachile beach and a memorable stay in Ostuni as well. Aside from one outdoor dinner that was rained out, everything went exactly as planned and the trip exceeded our expectations. Sally did a fantastic job and I would not hesitate to recommend her to others.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

First trip to Taiwan
Reviewed By Ranger Rick - Anaheim, CA | Traveled to Taiwan | East and Southeast Asia
Sally’s first-hand knowledge of Taiwan made her stand out from the other agents we spoke to. From hidden book shoppes to a tea farm experience, plus a hotel with a zen vibe and a soaking tub on the balcony, a roadside foot massage, and the full-on street market madness, everything was perfectly planned. She made it so easy, we enjoyed the country like locals, and we had a great time. Sally is the real deal when it comes to planning travel.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Solo Travel in Vietnam
Reviewed By ArtGirl97 - Santa Monica, CA | Traveled to Vietnam | East and Southeast Asia
This was my first solo trip to Southeast Asia, and Sally gave me the confidence to do it while making me feel so at ease. Her personal experience traveling to Vietnam as a solo female really paid off. From her hotel choices (too hard to pick a favorite!), to each of my incredible private tour guides and all the experiences. Picking produce from a vegetable garden that we used in a cooking class, floating through Ha Long Bay, riding on the back of a scooter to a cafe in Hanoi, watching the sun set over the rice paddies as I sipped a beer from my balcony, and even taking a full beach day (which I usually skip!) made the trip so well-rounded. I loved the variety and flow of the itinerary. I am already thinking about where I want to go to next, and I will absolutely be using Sally to plan my trip.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Magical Sicily by Sally
Reviewed By Girl Power - Golden, CO | Traveled to Sicily | Italy | Europe
Four friends planning a trip to Sicily and we quickly became totally overwhelmed with all the saved social media posts, and honestly had no clue where to even start. We researched and found Sally through Travel Leaders, and we are so glad we chose her! She booked us at several charming and authentic accommodations such as an apartment in the middle of a small seaside village and even a farm stay near the southern coast, that was just so dreamy. Every tour, every restaurant, and every day felt full and delicious. Sally’s passion for travel planning and her clear, consistent communication made the entire process stress-free and exciting. She gets so excited describing places and ideas, her positive energy for travel is so infectious! All of our other friends were so jealous of our trip. We’ll always be grateful to Sally for the incredible memories we made in Sicily.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Sally planned our girls’ winter trip to sun-filled Aruba down to the last detail. Between the jeep adventure tours, art walks, hidden beaches, and outstanding restaurants, we discovered parts of the island many tourists never see. Loved it and can't wait to go back again. Thank you, Sally!
