Hello everyone! My name is Adam Richey, and I'm the owner of Big Screen Big World Travel. Travel has long been a passion of mine, though I have gotten my travel fix largely through YouTube and other social media due to budgetary constraints brought on by health care bills...until now! I have always closely followed the most popular travel and tourism organizations, but one glaring omission from the businesses I monitor is a service dedicated to film and TV travel for the passionate fans who want to see iconic locations in person that they hold dear from their favorite movies and TV shows. What makes me so qualified to fill said void? Beyond a love and yearning for travel, movies and TV shows have always been a passion of mine since a very young age. I began my DVD collection at the age of 12, eventually expanding to TV shows and Blu-ray movies. A nice theater setup at home keeps me from having to shell out for expensive movie tickets unless really necessary. Eclectic may not be a strong enough word to describe my entertainment tastes, as I have a fervent knowledge of titles and shooting locations spanning across all imaginable entertainment genres. It also helps that geography has always been a hobby and my favorite academic subject; I love expanding my horizons by learning about other countries and their cultures.
My educational and occupational backgrounds greatly contribute to what I can do at Big Screen Big World Travel. I earned an Associate of Arts degree at Ashford University in Organizational Management in 2014 before going on to Western Governors University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in I.T. Management for Business in 2018. I have always been a detail-oriented and meticulous person along with my time management skills, but those attributes were kicked into high gear as I navigating online courses to gain my degrees. Punctuation and written communication will also never be an issue. I am a former Spell Bowl champion in high school, and English was a close 2nd favorite in school. Occupational experience comes from an ideal mix of customer service (20+ years), sales (12+ years), operations management (8+ years), PC literacy (20+ years), marketing (8+ years), advertising (8+ years), data analysis (12+ years), data entry (12+ years), fraud detection (10+ years), and time management (16+ years). Though this will be a new adventure in terms of my career industry, I have an unparalleled passion for not just customer service, but building long-lasting relationships with people that will become family by the time everything is done. Sales is another element that I truly enjoy, and my approach is to NEVER pressure someone but try reach a point where we both completely understand each other and the expectations / deliverable results. I have also earned sales achievements with multiple organizations before launching Big Screen Big World Travel. Foundever, Alorica, Family Dollar, Movie Gallery, and HH Gregg have all recognized me for sales achievements. Honesty, active listening, knowledge, and empathy are my behavioral pillars. I am more than happy to laugh, cry, and shout with excitement right along with a person.
A BIT ABOUT ME
I now reside in Lyman, South Carolina after relocating from my hometown of Kokomo, Indiana in 2018. I can unfortunately assure you that it is nothing like the Beach Boys song, but it’s a nice little town nonetheless. My love of entertainment doesn’t stop at movies and TV either, as I have over 300,000 songs in my personal collection that covers a gamut of genres from rock to R&B to pop and even to classical. Professional wrestling will likely never leave my blood, but I don’t follow it as much as I used to while in my 20’s and 30’s. Still some of my favorite memories are of WWE WrestleMania 22 and Ring of Honor in Chicago with my best friend. Seth Rollins, The Usos, Gunther, and Asuka are some of my favorites of today. Hobbies beyond those are admittedly more subdued than many may enjoy, as I will never go bungee jumping or sky diving; however, I do enjoy some excitement when traveling to new places and experiencing new things. Amusement parks are always a go-to option, but I won’t be riding the roller coaster made famous in Final Destination for obvious reasons. Animals hold a special place in my heart; I’ve had some combination or another of dogs and cats since started walking as a child. I’ve owned dogs, cats, lizards, turtles, hamsters, Guinea pigs, cockatiels, parakeets, lovebirds, an African gray parrot, and even a pot-bellied pig that once saved our home during a fire. I currently have a smaller group of pets now. A spoiled rotten Maine Coon mix by the name of Charlie has my heart, even though I used to slightly prefer dogs more. He is the king of the castle. He will not tolerate having any more competition for attention after my Maltese/Yorkshire terrier mix passed, but he’s a sweetheart with any humans that walk into the house. Zeus & Bob are our Guinea pigs.
