Winter in Norway felt like stepping straight into Christmas. We began in Trondheim, where snow-covered streets and festive Christmas markets gave the city a cozy, welcoming feel. Wandering between market stalls, cafés, and the waterfront became part of the daily rhythm, with plenty of time to slow down and enjoy the season. From Trondheim, we took a scenic train Oslo, watching forests and winter landscapes glide past the windows. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays, with lively markets and a celebratory atmosphere. Christmas was spent enjoying great meals and quiet moments, followed by a spa morning that became one of the highlights of the trip. Massages, warm pools, and saunas, paired with a late checkout, felt like the perfect winter indulgence. After a short stay at a historic hotel, we returned to Trondheim on an overnight sleeper train, It was a Christmas trip defined by markets, winter calm, and the joy of slowing down.

We traveled by train from Trondheim to Oslo, one of the most scenic and relaxing ways to move through Norway in winter. Snowy forests, frozen rivers, and quiet landscapes passed by the windows, turning travel time into part of the experience. Arriving in Oslo felt festive and energetic, with Christmas decorations and holiday markets bringing warmth to the city despite the cold. The day set the tone for our time in the capital, blending slow travel with the excitement of arriving somewhere new.

This travel day was a memorable one, as we returned to Trondheim on an overnight sleeper train. Boarding in Oslo late in the evening, the train offered a comfortable and surprisingly peaceful way to travel north. Falling asleep as the city faded away and waking up to winter landscapes rolling past the windows made the journey feel calm and almost meditative. Arriving back in Trondheim in the morning felt gentle and unhurried, a fitting transition back to the slower pace of the city and a unique way to experience long-distance travel in Norway.

This day was dedicated entirely to rest and indulgence. A winter spa experience in Oslo offered the perfect contrast to cold, dark days outside. With no rush to leave, the day unfolded slowly, allowing plenty of time to unwind and reset. It was a welcome pause in the middle of the trip and one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Norway, blending comfort, calm, and winter luxury.
