Empire to Elevation: China’s Timeless Cities Tour

Step into a land where imperial dynasties meet futuristic skylines, ancient relics rest beneath neon glows, and time feels both frozen and fast-forwarded. From the cosmopolitan rush of Shanghai to the winding rivers of Chongqing, this journey through China’s iconic cities offers a storybook of legends, flavors, and perspectives waiting to be lived.

Shanghai – China’s Dazzling Gateway

At once fast-paced and fashion-forward, Shanghai pulses with ambition. This shimmering metropolis on the banks of the Huangpu River is China’s economic heart and its stylistic soul. The iconic skyline, dominated by the Oriental Pearl Tower and twisting Shanghai Tower, gleams over the historic Bund promenade, a sweeping reminder of the city’s colonial past meeting a futuristic vision.Wander through the French Concession's leafy boulevards, sip cocktails in rooftop lounges with panoramic views, or dive into the local life in traditional lilong alleyways. Art flourishes in spaces like the Power Station of Art and M50, while trendsetting shops line Nanjing Road and Xintiandi. Whether riding the world’s fastest maglev train or savoring soup dumplings in a street-side eatery, Shanghai surprises at every turn.

Xi’an – Where History Lives and Legends Sleep

Once the eastern terminus of the Silk Road, Xi’an remains one of the world’s most storied cities. Over 3,000 years old and once capital to 13 dynasties, this ancient city invites visitors into the cradle of Chinese civilization. Most famously, Xi’an is home to the Terracotta Army, an awe-inspiring force of thousands of life-sized warriors guarding the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.Walk or bike atop the intact Ming Dynasty city walls for panoramic views of old and new. Step inside the Muslim Quarter for savory kebabs, fresh pita, and fragrant spices, where cultures and religions have mingled for centuries. Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the most important Buddhist landmarks in China, and imagine the pilgrims who once followed these same paths. Xi’an is a gateway not just through space, but time itself.

Beijing – The Heart of Imperial China

Beijing is more than China’s capital, it’s a living museum of dynasties, revolutions, and renaissances. Begin at the Forbidden City, a sprawling palace complex that once housed emperors and their courts in golden-roofed splendor. Just beyond lies Tiananmen Square, the vast and symbolic heart of modern China.Trace the stone-paved paths of the Great Wall, winding like a dragon through mountains and mist. Explore the tranquil beauty of the Temple of Heaven and the romantic serenity of the Summer Palace, where emperors once sought retreat. In hutongs, Beijing’s traditional alleyways, local life unfolds through mahjong games, steaming baozi, and tea poured slowly from antique pots. Yet Beijing also dazzles with avant-garde architecture, Michelin-starred dining, and a booming art scene in 798 Art District. It’s a city of contrast, where emperors and entrepreneurs walk the same ground.

Hong Kong – The Vertical Dreamscape

A city like no other, Hong Kong is a fusion of East and West, ancient and hyper-modern, calm temples and roaring stock exchanges. Its skyline is among the most iconic in the world, best admired from Victoria Peak or a sunset cruise across Victoria Harbour on the historic Star Ferry.Beneath its steel-and-glass towers are bustling street markets, incense-filled temples like Man Mo, and the clatter of trams navigating the hilly streets of Central. Food is a cultural cornerstone here, from Michelin-starred dim sum to egg waffles and roast goose in family-run shops. In Kowloon, neon lights still burn bright while art and indie culture grow in neighborhoods like Sham Shui Po and Tai Kwun. Hike the Dragon’s Back or unwind on the sands of Repulse Bay. Hong Kong is a city of intensity, rhythm, and surprising stillness, where every traveler finds their own beat.

Chongqing – Mountain Metropolis of the Yangtze

Often called the “City of Bridges” or “Fog Capital,” Chongqing is dramatic, spicy, and entirely its own. Perched above the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, this mountainous city rises vertically, its skyline stacked on cliffs and hillsides, sometimes accessible only by escalator or cable car.Chongqing is a haven for food lovers, with its famously fiery hot pot that will test your spice tolerance and redefine your palate. Night markets and street stalls offer everything from skewers to fermented bean curd, while bold flavors match the bold spirit of its people. Visit Ciqikou Ancient Town for Ming-era architecture, or set off on a Yangtze River cruise through the stunning Three Gorges. The city’s layered urban landscape, shaped by both geography and grit, offers an experience unlike anywhere else in China.

Desert adventure
Reviewed By Rob - Pensecola | Traveled to Sedona | Arizona | USA
I booked a trip to Sedona through Ty, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful and inspiring vacations I’ve ever had. He really understood the vibe I was looking for. It was spiritual, scenic, and a little adventurous. We met a guide and the hiking routes he suggested were breathtaking, and the spa retreat he booked was the perfect way to unwind. Ty knows how to craft experiences that feel personal, not cookie-cutter.

So relaxed now after this trip

I can’t say enough great things about working with Ty! He planned the most relaxing and luxurious trip to Grand Cayman for my husband and me. Everything was seamless from airport transfers to dinner reservations after sailing on a catamaran. We even got to swim with stingrays, something I never would’ve thought to book on my own. Ty made us feel completely taken care of the whole time.

Reviewed By The Robinsons - Sioux Falls | Traveled to Paris | France | Europe
Ty made my first trip to France absolutely unforgettable. From sipping espresso under the Eiffel Tower to exploring Mont Blanc in Chamonix, every detail was perfectly arranged. He found charming boutique hotels that felt personal and local, not touristy at all. What I loved most was how he balanced structure and freedom. we had planned tours, but also time to just wander and discover. Ty clearly knows France inside and out, and it shows in every recommendation he gives. I’ll definitely be using him again for my next adventure!
