Exploring London: A Journey Through Landmarks

Big Ben!

London is a city where history and modernity walk hand in hand. From centuries-old palaces to striking glass skyscrapers, every corner holds a story waiting to be discovered.

On our recent trip, we set out to explore the city’s most famous landmarks—and here’s how the adventure unfolded. 

Starting at the Tower of London:

No visit to London feels complete without stepping into the Tower of London. Guarded by the iconic Beefeaters, the Tower is home to the dazzling Crown Jewels (no photos allowed in here!) and layers of history that stretch back almost a thousand years. Wandering through its stone corridors feels like stepping into another era.

Crossing Tower Bridge:

Just a short walk away from the Tower, Tower Bridge stands as one of London’s most photographed icons. Watching the bascules rise to let boats pass on the Thames is a must-see moment. We walked across and paused halfway to take in the sweeping views of the river.

Westminster Abbey & Big Ben:

Heading west, we made my way to Westminster Abbey, where kings and queens have been crowned for centuries. The Gothic architecture is breathtaking, and it’s humbling to walk among so much history. Just around the corner, the newly restored Big Ben gleamed in the sunlight, standing proudly beside the Houses of Parliament.

Buckingham Palace:

Of course, no trip is complete without a glimpse of Buckingham Palace. We joined the crowd gathered outside to watch the Changing of the Guard—a quintessential London experience filled with pomp and pageantry.

The London Eye:

To end the day, we hopped on the London Eye. As the giant wheel slowly lifted me above the city, we caught sight of all the landmarks we had explored throughout the day.

The O2:

For some added thrill, we ventured over top of the O2 building climbing 52 meters at it's tallest and looking over all of London.

Final Thoughts:

Exploring London is like flipping through a history book brought to life, with each landmark adding its own chapter. Whether you’re fascinated by royalty, architecture, or just the thrill of discovering a new city, London has something for everyone.
