Experience Scotland through my eyes

Scotland had been calling to me for years. My love for Harry Potter and Outlander was the spark that drew me in, but once I finally traveled through Scotland myself, the connection became something much deeper. The stories I loved had introduced me to the scenery and the spirit of the country, yet being there in person made everything richer and more meaningful.

My 15 day journey through Scotland was one of the most impactful travel experiences of my life. I began in Edinburgh with proper afternoon tea and long slow walks through Old Town. I visited Falkland, and saw “Jamie’s fountain” from the Outlander series. I drove through the Highlands and realized very quickly that Scotland has a way of making you slow down and really see the land around you. The ferry to the Outer Hebrides was unforgettable, and standing at the Callanish Stones felt almost spiritual. On the Isle of Skye I felt the wild beauty that so many travelers talk about. At the end of the trip I stayed in the Heriot Suite at The Witchery, a place that feels like stepping into a story all its own.

Planning the trip had taken months of studying routes, ferry schedules, timing, traffic patterns, and all the little details that help a traveler move confidently through Scotland. Experiencing it in person confirmed how important those details truly are. Scotland is a land of dramatic scenery and simple pleasures, and the best trips combine both. I learned how to balance famous landmarks with quiet local moments.

Now when I plan Scotland itineraries for clients, I bring not only research but lived experience. I understand the rhythm of the country. I know how long a drive will actually feel (and actually take), when to slow the pace, when to linger, and when to let the scenery lead the way. I ask questions that help me match travelers to the Scotland that fits them. Some come for Outlander filming locations. Some want the magic of Harry Potter. Some crave castle stays, whisky tastings, or long scenic roads that open into breathtaking views. Many want a little of everything, just like I did.

My time in Scotland changed the way I guide others. I help travelers see the iconic places, but I also help them feel the soul of the country. That might be a quiet moment at Cawdor Castle, watching the Jacobite Steam Train cross Glenfinnan, or standing at Neist Point with nothing but wind and ocean around you. It might be choosing the right base so a trip feels calm instead of rushed. Scotland rewards those who travel with intention, and I love helping my clients do exactly that.
