If you're cruising, be very careful as you get off the ship. You will likely be swarmed by a variety of offers from "love" to drugs to illegal taxis/tours. Once beyond the port, you'll be fine, but it can be jarring, particularly for families travelling.

Norwegian Cruise Lines offers a 7 night Boston to Bermuda that spends three days in port--highly recommended for the New Englanders. While often tourists want to rent scooters/mopeds, keep in mind it's British Territory, and as such they drive on the left

The airport in Istanbul is an experience in itself. If you're transiting through Istanbul for 6-24 hours via Turkish Air, you can take advantage of a free tour or hotel.
