About Me

CATP Certification
CATP Certification

As a Certified Autism Travel Professional (CATP) from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), I'm passionate about making travel accessible and enjoyable for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or other Sensory Sensitivities, and their families.

I believe that travel is an integral part of our world and personal development, and it's disheartening to see so many families with an ASD (or similar diagnosis) family member feel that it's not possible to travel. By becoming a CATP, I've acquired the specific skills and knowledge required to plan and execute travel accommodations and experiences that are accessible and accommodating for individuals with autism.

One important consideration when planning travel for individuals with ASD is understanding their goals for the trip, the accommodations they require, and any specific needs or sensitivities that may exist. I work closely with families to help them understand that there are actually a variety of travel options to support their family's needs.

Common challenges I've encountered when working with families and individuals with ASD include helping them understand that things may need to be fluid and that we may need to pivot to alternative plans, which can be difficult for some individuals. However, I address these challenges by building trust with my clients and being transparent about the planning process.

To ensure that travel accommodations and experiences are accessible and accommodating for individuals with autism, I rely on years of experience and relationship-building with travel partners. By having the right relationships in place, I'm able to provide my clients with the best possible travel options to meet their unique needs.

For individuals and families planning their first trip with someone with autism, my advice is to trust in the process and be comfortable with things being fluid. While we may have great plans, we may need to pivot to alternative plans, and that's okay. I'm there every step of the way to provide guidance and support.

What I enjoy most about working as a CATP is sharing the world, experiences, and perspectives with individuals who thought they would not be able to comfortably enjoy those experiences. By making travel accessible and enjoyable for individuals with ASD, I'm able to help them expand their horizons and create lifelong memories.

If you're interested in learning more about how I can help you plan an ASD/Sensory-friendly travel experience for yourself or someone you love, please don't hesitate to contact me. Together, we can create a travel experience that meets your unique needs and exceeds your expectations.

Amazing honeymoon in Africa
Reviewed By Michael - Chicago, IL | Traveled to South Africa ~ Africa
Ian did an amazing job planning/arranging our entire honeymoon. My involvement was limited to identifying the two countries of interest (South Africa and Zimbabwe). Ian did the rest. I was impressed by the amount of activities/site we were able to fit into the two weeks without feeling rushed. Ian was even available over the weekend to help when one of our flights was cancelled due to weather. I would happily work with Ian again!
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

INCREDIBLE family trip
Reviewed By Carpenters - Phoenix AZ | Traveled to Greece ~ Europe
We're all so glad we worked with Ian and his team. We had a massive trip that required a lot of details being tended to, and a lot of conflicting priorities and preferences. Ian was able to sort it all out and determine what would be the best opportunities for us. Some of us had bigger budgets than others; some of us wanted intense hotel services, others wanted more hands-off - Ian and his team sorted all of it out ofr us, we are so happy.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.

Client Testimonials

Happy Honeymooners!
My wife and I had Ian Cambata help plan our honeymoon. We could not have been more satisfied. We really didn't know what we wanted in a honeymoon, so we didn't know where to start. Ian sent us some resorts and we commented on what we liked and didn't like - after a few iterations of this he found us the perfect place. Throughout the selection process, Ian was very responsive to email and phone calls which was nice. He would promise a new group of resorts within a couple days and always deliver on time.We went to a small resort in Antigua for 7 nights and had the best vacation either of us have ever had.We will certainly be contacting Ian when we start to plan our next vacation.
