European River Cruising

I had the wonderful opportunity to live in Europe 4 years and 2 years in England—2 years in Heidelberg, Germany; 2 years near Bad Aibling, Germany; and 2 years near Harrogate, England.  My family was able to travel often while there, and I return whenever I can.  I love churches and castles and never get tired of visiting them.  Some of the places that I have visited are:  The Netherlands, England, Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and Greece, Hungary.

Traveling to Europe is a wonderful study in history, architecture, food, and culture.  A great way to experience Europe is on a coach tour. a river cruise, or an ocean cruise.

If you are going to Europe for the first time, I highly recommend a cruise or a coach tour with a company such as Globus or Collette.  On a river cruise, your ship docks in the heart of the cities that you visit.  Walking to the town center is often easily done from your ship.  Excursions are included and are a great way to visit and learn about the city you are visiting.  You unpack one time, your ‘hotel’ moves with you, the dining is spectacular, and shipboard activities are always entertaining.  An ocean cruise will keep you on the coast of the countries that you visit, but still can offer a great vacation.  You experience the same ship amenities as a river cruise: your hotel travels with you, fine dining, amazing entertainment, and wonderful staffs.

Traveling with a coach tour is also a great way to go.  Your transportation, hotel, activities, and some meals are all included in the cost of the trip.  You have a guide who is knowledgeable in the region that you are traveling and stays with you the entire time.  There are also local guides that will be with you in each city that you visit.  Coach tours are a great way to experience great hotels and travel with people from other parts of the globe.    

If you are adventurous, I can also arrange your independent travel:  train, rental car, hotels, activities—everything that you need.  This is a freer way to travel and focus on what you want to do and see.  If you are a history or architecture buff, nearly every city has churches, castles or palaces, and beautiful old buildings to visit or view from the outside.
