Our cruise and staff was great, the food excellent . The ports were good , the weather did not cooperate as it was drizzeling and cold. I had a hard fall at Icy Strait Point and bruised my face and had a black eye for the remainder, and still have it a little. Luckily I did not break anything. Alaska is beautiful and I suggest yp anyone that has not been to go.

This was a great trip. We meet so many old friends and made new. Being of the 'older generation' I was able to get around and visit and see all.

Service was good, people friendly, grandchildren (first time on a ship) enjoyed themselves. For Kathy and I it was disappointing. It was our choice, but the ship was a little tired, old carpet, no table cloths in dining room. Dining room wait staff very friendly & helpful, but food service was slow and food quality was average. Too many people on the ship, 4,200 to 4,400. Too much waiting for; dinner, open tables, bars, etc. Few quiet private places to sit & talk, read or play cards. Too much up selling, at meals, photos, bars, etc. Casino smoke was horrible. It was mostly contained, but seeped out near the main entrance. We have decided not to use Carnival again. By the way, none of this is Cruise Specialist fault and we will use you in the future.

My husband and I just completed 45 days Mediterranean cruise on Holland America Volendam ship. We made 100% of the planned ports! We were able to experience the Pyramids in Cairo, walk through most historic and beautiful places in Istanbul and see Roman influences in many countries, and finally get on the Gibraltar Rock. Weather was wonderful- little rain, perfect temperature. Being a shoulder season, the crowds weren't bad at all. Traveling with Keith and Susie, CS hosts, was fantastic. They were attentive, personable and made the cruise even better. This is our second cruise with them. We can't wait to do another cruise where they are the hosts. Huge appreciations to them for being our security and advocate on the cruise. CS excursions- in general was very good. Being in our own bus compared to HAL excursions. We had excursions where a large full meal was served vs small meals. We definitely liked small bites better. You didn't feel sluggish for afternoon sightseeing. We did several independent food tours and I wish CS would have couple of these for next cruise we take. There were notable ones to mention. Good - trip to Egypt. Jammed pack with sights but had no choice since we were losing hours from driving to and from Alexandria. Istanbul - didn't like or enjoy first night excursion - drive around in a bus and the fish dinner. Wasn't worth the money.2nd day - way too much walking. We enjoyed it but there were many who said it was exhausting. Again, rush through sites and not enough time. Again, part of the problem was when we got to Istanbul. Overall, great cruise and having Keith and Susie was wonderful.

When I was 14 yrs I read the book "Around the World in 80 Days", and thought it would be wonderful to do it. But it was only last year, after a challenging shoulder surgery, that I decided to fulfill my dream not in 80 days but in 124 days!! I was referred to Gillian by friends. That is probably the best referral I had because Gillian made my dream become a reality without any fuss. I wanted to be very efficient with my money so I reserved an inside cabin, weeks later Gillian gave me the great surprise of an upgrade, a cabin with obstructed view (Up Promenade Deck). But she knows the ships very well, and got me a cabin located in between tenders, so, I had a nice view of the ocean and the sky, albeit with some cables in front of the window, but I was not behind a tender and the sun illuminated my cabin. She made the entire reservation process look very easy, guiding me along the way with choosing travel insurance, visas, flights, etc. etc. I did not need to do anything on my side. She

Gillian was terrific throughout the entire booking process. She kept us up to date for changes from Holland America and CSI, and gave excellent advice when we upgraded our stateroom. Her recommendation was spot on - the stateroom was quiet and convenient to every section of the Koningsdam.

We are seasoned travelers, especially via cruises. There are many aspects I will handle on a DIY basis, but not booking a cruise. Gillian is extremely knowledgeable, detail-oriented, cares about what is important to you, provides great guidance, and communicates reliably. (And CS has a good team which covers each other's time away from the office.) CS even offers generous perks you don't get when booking directly with a cruise line. Some cruises even include their excellent on-board hosts and special shore excursions which are frosting on a great cake. We just took the most wonderful cruise thanks to Gillian Clark. We had wanted a suite in order to get a king size bed as the cruise was 28 days long, so Gillian recommended the rear corner suite on the 7th level and we were so comfortable there we didn't want to leave. She provided us with all we needed from insurance to asking about our air reservations, and there were no loose ends.

I’ll keep you informed. Next battle is to recover all the shore excursions we had reserved and paid for, before and during trip. They all have been cancelled. The lead host/guide Tom for Cruise Specialist is going to go to HAL shore excursion desk when it reopens (during our dinner hour) and fight that battle for us.
