Disney’s Family-Friendly Private Island

Looking for family fun without the large crowds? Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay offers the best of both worlds, a relaxing exclusive location for adults and a magical destination for kids. Reachable only on a Disney Cruise Line voyage to the Bahamas and Caribbean, Castaway Cay consistently ranks as one of the top private islands for cruisegoers. Below are a few reasons why.

Recreational Activities

There are all sorts of excursions to take advantage of at Disney's Private Island, Castaway Cay. Parasailing, inner tube rentals, deep sea fishing, stingray feeding—the opportunities for adventure at all ages are endless. Snorkeling is made for all skill levels at Castaway Cay, and kids will love the surprise Mickey Mouse under the sea. Bike rides take guests across the island to nature trails and breathtaking beach views. The two twisting water slides of the “Pelican Plunge” water-play area end in a refreshing lagoon.

Convenient Perks

Any worries about traveling with children fade away when you get to Castaway Cay. A stop at the island is a worry-free, seamless experience. Purchases can be made with key cards like you would on the ship. There’s free transportation from the ship to the island, and a BBQ lunch is complimentary. Castaway Cay even has its own post office, so you can send postcards home from the island.

Adults-Only Areas

There are three beaches at Castaway Cay, including Serenity Bay, which is strictly for guests over the age of 18. Guests can book private cabanas and massages on the beach for ultimate relaxation, or lounge in two-person hammocks. Those traveling with kids who want a little peace and quiet can drop the kids at Scuttle's Cove, Castaway Cay’s supervised kids’ club.

Disney Characters

A Disney experience wouldn’t be complete without character appearances! Captain Jack Sparrow has been known to pop up across the island, so have your camera ready to snap a photo with him. Character dance parties are also a favorite. Keep in mind that wait times to meet characters are generally shorter than they are on the ship, so it’s the perfect chance to say hello to Mickey, Minnie and more.
