A pinprick of land hidden within the cerulean expanse of the Caribbean, Aruba is so much more than a line in a Beach Boys song — it’s scores of unblemished beaches, Dutch influence and, of course, countless chances to shed your mainland thoughts and worries, let your hair down and get lost enjoying something out of the ordinary. Here are three ideal day trips to break up the serene beach days.

Explore the rugged beauty of Aruba's Arikok National Park
Arikok National Park
Covering 20% of the island, it’s frankly hard not to visit the Arikok National Park — the unusual land formations, original Indigenous rock drawings, spectacular caves, unusual lava formations, exceptional flora and fauna and, of course, multiple breathtaking viewpoints of the island. While there is no wrong way to enjoy exploring the park, it is highly recommended that you book an organized tour. Guided by park rangers, the tour is a surefire way to discover the best scenic photo spots, as well as learn interesting tidbits about what lives in the park.Conchi Natural Pool
There are tide pools, there are swimming holes … and then there’s Conchi. Located inside Arikok National Park, this gem of a natural pool is well off the beaten path — totally inaccessible by regular car, your best bet for getting here is on foot, horseback or 4x4. Once you make it, prepare for your jaw to drop. Volcanic stones encircle the pool, creating a rocky barrier between it and the ocean. The tide creates its own fireworks show, as water crashing into wall shoots an impressive sea spray into the air. Should you work up an appetite swimming in this unique oasis (or during the trek to get there!), fear not: snacks and drinks are sold at the top of the stairs to the pool.

Perfect your swing in paradise – where world-class golf meets breathtaking scenery
Tierra Del Sol
Aruba’s only professional golf course is a tropical pilgrimage to lovers of the game; Tierra del Sol is a desert course sitting on the northwest corner of the island, featuring panoramic ocean views and truly tricky trade winds. Beyond the winds, the course is likely to give you a good challenge — but somewhere between the natural coral rock outcrops of the second hole and the tee shot across the lake on the 15th hole, you’ll likely be hit with an epiphany: You’re playing a gripping game of golf in the middle of paradise. Life is good.Trust a Travel Agent
The best way to make the most of your tropical getaway? By working with a travel agent. Not only will you have plenty of time to experience the sights and flavors listed above, but you’ll also enjoy reaping the rewards that come only with their expertise — chiefly, their treasure-trove of insights and recommendations paired with the plush perks and amenities they can score from the leading names in travel. Case in point: JOIA Aruba by Iberostar is a luxe choice to serve as your go-to refuge while staying in Aruba … and you can bet our agents know JOIA Aruba well, so we can help you choose, plan and book your vacation to perfection.
