If you prefer to venture out on your own in a particular city, you can! After all, it’s your vacation and you should spend time ashore as you prefer. The majority of the river cruisers will choose the tours as they offer options that are highly attractive in each port. The tours often offer free time in cities and on many occasions you’re in port overnight giving you the freedom to explore on your own. The ships dock right in or near town so it’s easy to venture off if you’d like. We did a few times!
