Ready to spend the day looking at amazing resorts!
Who was lucky enough to visit Antigua for the first time this July? Me! Our first stay was the Pineapple Beach Resort and I had a Garden View on the second level, but I was able to see the ocean from my balcony. The beach there was great, the food was incredible, the entertainment at night was stellar, and the Hideaway Bar up on the hill was fabulous. I loved my stay there and would definitely go back. Our next stop as a travel agent group was Hodges Bay. This property has up to four bedroom lodging for families or smaller groups. It features great food & a nice swim up bar. Right offshore is Prickly Pear Island, a private Beach Club. We stayed in the water for hours there because it was just delectable and the sun was shining. My final stay was three nights at the Adults Only Galley Bay - just paradise in my room overlooking the ocean.
I have a lot of pictures and information for anyone wanting to explore and stay on this island. It has 365 beaches! Every kind of accommodation you would need from honeymoon to golf trips. Special highlight - Our last night as a group featured a sunset catamaran cruise. We boarded in the surf and sailed the coast dancing to lovely Caribbean music.
Whether you are after private luxury pools overlooking the ocean for a honeymoon, or a resort that includes all activities and meals, I have ideas of the perfect spot!
These are the resorts we toured before I spent three nights at Galley Bay- St. James, Carlisle Bay, Curtain Bluff, Sandals Grande Antigua, Royalton (over the water bungalows), Blue Waters Resort, Hammock Cove, The Verandah, Hermitage, and Tamarind Hills. I stayed at three resorts while there - Pineapple Beach, Hodges Bay, and Galley Bay.
Every Sunday night there is a sunset party at Shirley Heights with steel drum music and incredible local food/drinks. I am so glad I took that trip because the island is steeped in history and lore. My taxi driver told me so much that intrigued me and made me want to return and bring friends and family. Come, explore.

Burkhalter needs to give this woman a raise!!!! The term "dog with a bone" comes to mind. When we were having troubles with some of the companies we were staying with Gail went to bat and didn't back down! Wonderful, care free Jamaican vacation

Gail made booking our trip so easy and worry free! Plus she added in a bunch of extra tips that helped make our the trip the best we've ever had, and we like to travel a lot. We had a cancelled flight on the way home, and with two small kids traveling internationally that was not good news. Traveling during Trying Times

We had a fairly expensive trip planned to Africa treating our son, daughter-in-law and grandson. We were to leave on March 2, 2020. Near the beginning of March it became apparent that this was not a good idea. Our travel insurance coverage was very limited in this situation. Rather than loose a substantial amount of money, I started wondering about rescheduling. The long time Burkhalter travel agent who had arranged our trip had just retired but she recommended Gail Hummel as a replacement. Remember all of the costs of the trip had already been paid, so Gail didn’t have much to gain. These are uncertain times for travel, but I’m firmly convinced that we have a travel agency, Burkhalter, and a wonderful travel agent, Gail Hummel, that won’t stop if we need another miracle for our rescheduled trip. I wouldn’t consider any other travel agency than Burkhalter nor any other travel agent that Gail Hummel.

Gail is easy to work with, and takes all the hassle out of planning a trip. She is great at taking care of details that I would not have thought of. Amazing trip!

Our Avalon Tulip cruise was booked over a year ago with Gail guiding us through with her knowledge and experience. Perfect European Honeymoon

We knew we wanted to be gone for 2 weeks right after the wedding and that we were doing a river cruise for the 2nd week, but weren’t sure what to do for the first week. Great family vacation

Gail added extra time before and after riverboat cruise we gave her the go ahead to pick our hotels and transportation to and from destinations. The hotels were better than we expected we didn't miss our bed or pillows on the whole trip. She put together a customized family trip where we had 3 parts of the family, coming from 3 different parts of the country, then spending over a week in Norway,, then each family part visiting different Euro locales after Norway and retuning to their home bases. There were literally many dozens of different connections on various type of transport including planes, train, ferries. Many opportunities for something to go wrong, all worked extremely well. which I think is quite remarkable. I have used Gail four or five times. Each time we’ve worked with her things went smooth. We would not continue to use her if we were disappointed in her work. We were traveling with a severely disabled individual. Gail checked out ADA accommodations along the way and made sure we could enjoy our trip. She notified the airlines of our needs so we could gait check the wheelchair. She even got us the measurements of the gait check space so that we knew what we needed to take off the chair for it to fit!! Gail talked me through the parking at O'Hare airport!! (Much needed since it had been more than a decade since I had flown out of there.) Plus she had the rental car all arranged on Maui, She recommended activities that were accessible. Plus she walked me through it all before we left. We had an absolutely wonderful time thanks to the solid pre-planning.

Everything on our trip was great!! The ship was nice and our room was great. You were right, we didn’t feel claustrophobic at all not having a balcony/veranda so I’m glad we didn’t pay more for a room with one. Our excursions were fun too, but I think we did too many! We ended up canceling one because we just wanted to explore ourselves, and it ended up being a really fun day.

Hi Gail, Feedback, sure. The hotels were all great. Go Hotel Ansgar in Copenhagen was perfectly located, a block from Central Station. Within walking distance to Nyhavn. Tivoli was right there also. The room was totally updated and clean. There was no bar/restaurant but they sold snacks, beer & bottles of wine at the concierge you could take out into their lovely courtyard to enjoy. Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz in Oslo was quite nice, walking distance from the train station. Getting a 24 hour tram pass was cheap and a good idea. Hotel Oleana in Bergen was quirky & nice. Again, great location. Could walk anywhere. May have been my favorite place. Zoku Copenhagen was unique & had a beautiful rooftop garden, restaurant & bar that could be a definite draw for returning. All the hotels had excellent breakfasts and, in my opinion, a definite must to include in your bookings. I wish the US had such an efficient and organized train transit system. The train from Oslo to Bergen was a beautiful trip.
