Are You Kidding Me?

Whether your own or someone else’s, children can bring a sense of joy to weddings. If little ones are invited to your event, plan entertainment for them so parents can eat a meal in peace and take a turn on the dance floor. Here are our top five suggestions for accommodating children at your event.

1. Kids Villa

Book your event at a resort that caters to kids. Many beach resorts offer quality childcare in clean, fun facilities that will feel familiar and comfortable for kids used to a day care or aftercare environment. Times will vary, but customarily, children ages 3-12 can be dropped off between 9am and 5pm daily, and in-room babysitting is available in the evening.

2. Photo Booth

Guests of all ages love a photo booth! Suppliers usually provide a box of props, hats and accessories so everyone can ham it up for the camera. Children love playing dress-up and making silly faces and will probably make multiple trips to the booth. Send a copy of their photos to their parents along with your thank-you notes for a fun surprise.

3. Piñata

Find a piñata shaped like a giant wedding cake or heart and let the kids whack away at it after the wedding cake is served. Something about squarely hitting a piñata is quite satisfying for kids — and kids at heart. Fill yours with candy, small toys, gift cards, bubbles, gum or keepsake keychains so everyone gets a treat.

4. Lego Table

Set up a child-sized table with building blocks and task kids with constructing their dream house. Vendors who specialize in Lego rentals are usually booked for daytime birthday parties, so they’re likely to be free for an evening reception. You may be surprised to see adults find their way over to the construction zone to relive their building days.

5. Engaging Entertainment

To really keep kids’ attention, select a resort that can offer after-dinner entertainment like a comedy act, magic show or an animated movie in a kid-sized cinema. Work with your on-site wedding planner to arrange a group outing to catch an amazing live performance that could become a lifetime memory for a lucky group of kids.
